Menu Project

I finished my last Menu at 5am this morning. These are all first drafts. This is the 2nd phase of the menu logo project. I would have love to spend more time and get more detailed, especially on the Soup menu, but procrastination bit me in the ass on this one. The last menu, the Lichtenstein, was created at 4:30am and is probs the one I hate the most. I didn't even have enough time to create a back for the last one.

The idea is that each table will represent a pop artist and the menu would be part of that theme.

Andy Warhol Table - metal can

Jasper Johnson - map on canvas

Keith Haring - concrete slab

Roy Lichtenstein - thin paper

Why I like my graphic design class

Sure its 1:30 in the morning but I got to learn about Pop Art while creating this logo for a fake cafe. Now I just need to come up with fake menu items. I'll need to create the design of my menu for the next phase of this project.

I've decided my cafe will be only about pop art from 1950 -80s hence the logo. Pop art was born out of a sort of f-up to elitist abstract expressionism of the 30s and 40s, the artist took images and objects in pop culture and called it art. So, I was thinking about basic dishes but with a twist. There the obvious like tomato soup. But maybe something like neon green eggs and ham or maybe names of dishes like "Drowning Women" Chocolate Cake. OR maybe play with irony and parody by creating a cow's body out of tofu? hmmm...

Ideas?
