I'm off to Tejas. Have a good weekend, week and Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the video. Its gotten something like over a million hits!

Facebook is Funny

Me: yeah but I dont remember a J from dallas. hint?

J: we met in Austin about 10 years ago at splash. I came down to see you a couple times after that. We went and saw a play together and hung out. You left for an internship that summer, we talked a couple times on the phone after that, but then lost touch.

I kinda knew B., anyway, I remember you fondly. I thought we kinda had a connection back then and wondered what had happened to you.

I still have no clue who this person is that contacted me via Facebook. And it doesn't help that he only has 3 pics on FB. So, I posted it on my blog. AAAaaah, now I feel better. :P

From the Judicial Council of California:

San Francisco – The California Supreme Court today denied requests to stay the enforcement or implementation of Proposition 8, and at the same time agreed to decide several issues arising out of the passage of Proposition 8. The court’s order, issued in the first three cases that had been filed directly in the state’s highest court challenging the validity of Proposition 8, directed the parties to brief and argue three issues:

(1) Is Proposition 8 invalid because it constitutes a revision of, rather than an amendment to, the California Constitution?

(2) Does Proposition 8 violate the separation-of-powers doctrine under the California Constitution?

(3) If Proposition 8 is not unconstitutional, what is its effect, if any, on the marriages of same-sex couples performed before the adoption of Proposition 8?

About last Friday night...

My roomie decided to have a small get together last Friday with lots of tequila. Several shots later we started playing True or Dare (how 8th grade of us), the pic above was the first dare of the night. Applesauce. Honey. Nipple sucking. It quickly sky rocketed out of control. Dare # 4 of the night, everyone try to learn the dance moves to "Straight Up". Note Michael (aka Dance Natzi) snapping orders at us amateurs !

I can't tell you about dares # 8 and 9 (read: hey coworkers). And I have no idea how someone wins at Spin The Bottle but its tons of fun trying. You'll see some of the pics to the right, most were not posted but will be used for blackmail at a later date. Right Jane? Rrriiiight :)

ps. was 8th grade always this fun?

Accountant [straightening tie in mirror]: So would you mind if I showed your teammate my apt. I think he'd look good in my bedroom (laughs nervously and smiles). Do you have his number?

Me: What? [closes magazine]. You want his number? [beat] Are u seriously asking me if you can hook up with my teammate and want me to give you his number?

Accountant [smiles and shrugs]: If you dont mind?

Me: Damn, you have balls. I mean I know we aren't serious but wow, ok. How about I give him your number. Oh, and thanks for loaning me this shirt. I dont think I'll be seeing you again so I'll drop it off with the doorman [grabs gym bag and walks out front door]

Growth

Its been almost a month since I've last blogged about...well, really about anything. Work has been kicking my ass, but our product is almost out the door so hopefully things will slow down. I haven't really been on dates with anyone new. Its new territory for me NOT to be dating or perusing anyone. I'm just kinda living in my post breakup world right now. Focusing more on creating more friends and getting into activities. .

Football is almost over, thank Jesus. Its been to much having vball on Sat and fball on Sunday. I never really got into fball this season. We play on a ubercompetative level which just takes all the fun out of it. Especially when your team has lost every game.

My vball team has gone though drama with tshirts and players but beer has this healing quality that makes everything better. :) We even finally won our first match and moved out of last place! There's also this one teammate that totally cracks me up during the games and practice. We chat about who we think is hot and who has slept with who, etc.- the usual gay guy speak. Went to a vball birthday party this past weekend, have another one this weekend and next, so needless to say I'm meeting tons of people from the league.

My workout partner and I have been hitting the gym almost everyday and we've started to turn into cool friends. We've gone out together a couple of times and we are a good match. He has no problem going up to people and starting a convo; I'm just the opposite.

The accountant and I are still seeing each other, I've compared him to cereal. Sometimes he's just the right thing and sometimes I get so bored with cereal. I'm just going to let things grow into whatever direction they happen to grow in. I've told him I'm not looking for anything serious and he seems to be cool with it.

Guess that's it. Special shout out to my old HS theatre friends on Facebook that have now started reading my blog. Who knew everyone would grow up so fast!

Crash and Burn

I haven't made an effort to continue dating. There is this great big whole inside of me from my past relationship and I think I'm FINALLY starting to realize that dating isn't the answer ( at lease until that hot guy from the Ritz calls me).

Consider the following:
  • The accountant texted me, saying he wanted to see me when he got back from London, I didn't return the text.
  • I made vague non committal plans with my roommates friend, cxled them. Then saw him out with another guy, hand in hand. They made a cute couple and he looked happy.
  • Ran into BD guy, it was a "hey, whats going on?! I'll call u." Never did.
I'm just burnt out. My new workout partner says he doesn't date at all which I kinda understand. I don't want to go to another dinner and talk my goals, my relationships or what I do for a living. It gets repetitive. And I think dates should be exciting, you should want to see that person. So break. For now

In other news...

Volleyball started. We lost all three game. The team that we played against had played together before so it was kind of an unfair match up. I'm already facebook friends with most my team mates, its like we are bff now. :)

My new work out partner is awesome. He reminds me of my roommate from college and a surfer..dude. Totally.

My Ex from Fire Island leaves NYC this thursday for good. I can't believe I met him almost 6 years ago. Its an end of an era with him moving. Seems like all my old friends are leaving NYC...maybe I'm next?

Old Habits Die Hard

Scene: NYC subway train, night. Ex, Friend 1, Friend 2 and I are riding the train heading from a birthday party at my Ex's apartment.

Me: K, this is my stop. I'll catch u guys later.
[leans in and gives quick cheek kisses to Friend 1 & 2]

Me: See u later
[leans in and almost kisses Ex on lips, hits side of cheek]

Me: love u

[rushes out train door]

Scene.

****

Its like my mind was on autopilot as I was saying my goodbyes. I didn't even realize it until I was out of the subway.

In other news, I made the volleyball team. Almost 300 people tried out on Saturday. After 6 hrs of volleyball, I was one of the 190 people that made the Division 8 teams. The try outs and league remind me of my fraternity days...that and several scenes from Mean Girls. I've already facebooked my teammates. Hot. Let the games begin!

9-11-08

DSC09391, originally uploaded by BillyNYC.

Not much of a view from the roof top of my place on 119th street but it still caused me to take time and remember.

I was living on 103rd street (just 3 months in nyc) and was awoken by my roomates to watch the news in shock. I remember my family couldn't get me on my phone until the afternoon, so they were kinda freaked. I remember going to dinner with some friends in Chelsea that night 7 years ago and seeing people with masked covering their mouth. U couldn't go past 14th street, they had blocked everything off. And then I remember the missing signs started to appear every where, first a couple then entire bus stops covered in paper.

I hear this is the last year those lights will shine, contract on where the floor light sit has run out. I hope it continues. It helps remind us all.

Ida Corr vs. Fedde Le Grand - Let Me Think About It

New Fav Song

For my Republican family

From the LA Times OpEd section:

"Palin's value to those patriarchs is clear: She opposes just about every issue that women support by a majority or plurality. She believes that creationism should be taught in public schools but disbelieves global warming; she opposes gun control but supports government control of women's wombs; she opposes stem cell research but approves "abstinence-only" programs, which increase unwanted births, sexually transmitted diseases and abortions; she tried to use taxpayers' millions for a state program to shoot wolves from the air but didn't spend enough money to fix a state school system with the lowest high-school graduation rate in the nation; she runs with a candidate who opposes the Fair Pay Act but supports $500 million in subsidies for a natural gas pipeline across Alaska; she supports drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, though even McCain has opted for the lesser evil of offshore drilling. She is Phyllis Schlafly, only younger.

I don't doubt her sincerity. As a lifetime member of the National Rifle Assn., she doesn't just support killing animals from helicopters, she does it herself. She doesn't just talk about increasing the use of fossil fuels but puts a coal-burning power plant in her own small town. She doesn't just echo McCain's pledge to criminalize abortion by overturning Roe vs. Wade, she says that if one of her daughters were impregnated by rape or incest, she should bear the child. She not only opposes reproductive freedom as a human right but implies that it dictates abortion, without saying that it also protects the right to have a child." - Gloria Steinem

You can never go home again.

Two weeks since my last posting, work has been kicking my ass hence the lack of postings. Anyway, the updates:

BD guy and I had our 5th and I think final date. I can feel he wants to take it to the next level and I'm just not ready

My roommate's friend and I spent the night together. He was a complete gentleman and respected my boundaries. He also has these amazing blue eyes that I could stare at for days.

I have no idea what I'm doing with the accountant. I'm always excited to hang out with him then when the time actually comes I'm totally bored. Met his friends, nice group. Someone referred to me as 'boyfriend', which kinda freaked me out and I pretended not to hear. He also commented on my recent fight with Corey as "we're just being gay" which completely pissed me off.

Took my ex dog to the park with my ex man. Also saw my ex apartment, its not our home anymore. Its just an apartment, seemed cold and strange. I miss the area and our old restaurants. It was good to see my ex dog and man, bittersweet. His current bf called while we were eating. As he was saying good bye, he said 'love u too'. I remember how long it took me to say those words to him. I wondered what their story was behind who said it first and how. I didn't ask, to much reality for one day.

Wonder when/what my story will be.

In other non dating news
  • started football, I'm completely out of my league. Routes? Ins? Outs? post? what?
  • vball tryouts this Saturday, I'm totally ready
  • meeting my new workout partner tomorrow, hope he's cool. Its sucks going to the gym by myself and I've missed the gym several times over the past two weeks
  • going home in November, its been to long. see blake :)
  • desperately need to do laundry!!!

Ya know what I miss...

...having someone to watch sunday afternoon movies with. Thats the thing about being in a relationship. You always have someone there to do chill relax things with on the spur of the moment. I've called all my friends, all two of them, and everyone is busy. So its either another glass of wine by myself or boring tv. I think I need a hobby. ugh. hobbies.

Kick This! Team Photo

Kick This! Team Photo, originally uploaded by BillyNYC.

Our kickball team didn't win the playoffs but we had an amazing showing. The other team went into the playoffs undefeated and the last time we played them they beat us 15-4. We pulled ahead in the 2nd inning at 2-1 but lost the lead bottom of the 4th. I'm sad that the season is over, it feels like we just got into a grove. If there was an award for most improved team (our second game we lost 27-1) we would have won it . All of us showed great skill and really showed our stuff. Besides its not weather we won or lost but how we played the game. And we rocked out!

Final score:
Kick This! - 3
Drinkers with a kicking problem - 4

Next up, Vollyball and Touch Football. Bring it!

Its been a long time...

So remember when I said I was going to stop the whole dating thing. Yeah, not so much. I actually had a lot of fun this past weekend. My current update:

Had a third date with BD guy, we ordered in and rented a movie. He wanted me to stay the night. I got weirded out and kinda ran out of his place.

Had a 5th date with the accountant. Yes, I said I wouldn't BUT no plans on Friday + his text message = something to do. I hadn't seen him in two months and had forgotten how cute he was. I actually had a great time with him. We did a late dinner since he was just getting him from London. We had coffee and I read the times in bed with him the next morning. He's gone for another three weeks but wanted to see me "the moment" he got off the plane. He's kinda square and doesn't really know about pop culture..but I think I like that.

First 'real' date with videogame guy. He's new to WTWTG. He's 23, into video games and comic books. So basically he's 16. I'm not sure we have much in common and he says things like "your the hottest guy" in true 23 yr old fashion. It all sounds very rehearsed and makes my eyes roll involuntarily.

So I guess from the above, you could say I'm dating. I'm starting to get into it and understand it better. I'm not really expecting much from anyone but I think that's the way it should be. Plus if I say, "yes this guy" then that closes off all the other possibilities. And all I want right now are possibilities.

The Non-Date Date

Right now I would be getting off a ferry in Ptown but instead I'm trapped at work reading a 233 page spec. I cxled my ptown plans because I just wasn't up for another crazy weekend. I need some time to think and figure out what my next steps are going to be.

I had a very cool impromptu dinner with my roommate's friend I met a couple of weeks ago. One text message and 15 mins later we were having mexican food in union square. It was a very causal non-date date. I've been kinda flaky with him. First saying we should go out, then changing my mind, then stating the following:

----------------------

[17:40] WilSgfrd: i think I'm going to head out

[17:40] WilSgfrd: sorry if I've been alittle on the flaky side about meeting up

[17:41] WilSgfrd: I just think I'm not dealing well with being single thing

[17:42] WilSgfrd: and I'm still kinda figuring things out for me

[17:43] WilSgfrd: anyway

[17:48] Roommate’s Friend: hey

[17:48] RF: I understand better than you think

[17:48] RF: which is why I've only been politely nudging you :)

[17:50] WilSgfrd: i think what I need more then anything now are just friends

[17:51] RF: one always needs good friends

[17:51] WilSgfrd: so if you want to hang out and maybe catch a movie or something, without all the bs of dating, or hooking up..then i'd be up for that

[17:53] WilSgfrd: ...

[17:55] RF: um absolutely!

[17:55] RF: I'm never much of a dating person anyway

[17:56] RF: I'd much rather hang out first

[17:56] WilSgfrd: cool

[17:56] WilSgfrd: :)

[17:56] RF: so definitely

[17:57] WilSgfrd: and if your [CENSORED] happens to land [CENSORED], so be it

[17:57] WilSgfrd: :P

[17:57] RF: hahahah

[17:57] RF: exactly!

[17:57] WilSgfrd: i gotta run

[17:57] WilSgfrd: ttyl

[17:57] RF: cool

[17:57] RF: have a good one :)

----------------

After dinner we did dessert (yes, actual dessert, dirty readers) and then I walked with him to meet his friends. He invited me to say hi to them but I just wasn't really up for being social. Its like there is this invisible cube around me. I can see out of it but I just can't break out of my box.

A friend I had dinner with said I'm just now getting to the angry part of my process. My apathy towards dating, friends, family and work have all been pissing me off lately. But its really just my anger about my break up. Angry that I have to deal with being single again, which feels so isolating and strange after being in a relationship for 4.5 years. She said that if I can just stop fighting the anger and let it be there maybe thats the way out of my cube/box thing. Oh and something about finding Jesus.

The park I walk through every morning.

Pines Party Outfit

Pines Party Outfit, originally uploaded by BillyNYC.

I had a recap about this past weekend with a friend of mine. I'm not sure I had the best time but I had a pretty fun weekend. The theme, Circus, brought out all kinds of creative interpretations. There is nothing like seeing a drunk rolling jungle cat at 4am. I felt like the actually party wasn't worth what they were charging for the tixs. The lights sucked and the music was all over of the map. However, there was a very cool aerial show and it was filled with hot guys. None of which I had the courage to say two words too. It was very clickish, like B Bar on Tuesday or maybe even G but with older guys. The house mates and I were no different. We only danced together, drank together and talked only to each other.

My Ex from Fire Island told me he was moving to Chicago in two months. That he has sold his apartment and was moving to have a "better quality of life". I'm not sure I get it. But then again, I'm not 50, nor have I been going to FI for the past 15 years. We had a good heart to heart on sunday night. Its the age thing and now looks like it will be the location thing. I can't help but be sad that I'm losing a really good friend but I wish him all the best.

My first and last pines party was 2002. It was my first intro to Fire Island Pines. Now 6 year later, I think this may be my second and final.

Best memory- drinking beer at high tea with the house mates or jogging on the beach

Worst memory - the damn jungle cat. It was just strange

My Ex from Fire Island and I are going to the pines party this weekend. No, I didn't pay $160 for the tix. Yes, it might be a mistake to go with him. But in the mean time here are some pics that inspired my outfit for this Saturday night.

Billy & Blake

Billy & Blake, originally uploaded by BillyNYC.

I'm a bit numb tonight as I write this posting. A part of my heart is on a plane back to Austin, TX right now. Amazing doesn't quite describe this past weekend. After not seeing or hearing from him for 5 years, we picked up as if no time had pasted between us. One would think that after sharing four wonderful days with him, we would somehow try to manage our futures together. But I know what our realities are - New York and Texas. And I would rather have 4 days of wonderful then 5 more years of nothing special.

I'll see u in November,

Please invent this: phone-breathalyer

There should be a feature on your phone that stops u from making drunk phone calls and text messages. I'm thinking something like a breathalyzer, which would require u to blow into your cell phone BEFORE your allowed to phone or text people. For example, lets say your going out to your roommate's birthday dinner and you know by 11pm you might be leaving "god, I wish I hadn't said that" voice mails on your Ex from Texas's cell phone or shamelessly text flirting with your roommate's friend you met at said roommate's birthday dinner after he leaves. The cell-breathalyer would engage at 10:45pm, thus preventing any morning regret. There should also be an option to disable. No one wants to blow into their cell phone at 2pm while at work. Other options would include:
  • settings which allow the user to call/text specific people (even if you've had one to many, aka bootie calls)
  • once user fails test, block incoming calls from specific people because you know you'll say something hurtful/desperate/untrue
  • hold text messages in que until the morning when user is sober and can react relationally
  • If user blood-alcohol is way over, phone would shut-down completely.
I think I may have something here....

Happy Birthday Wynn!!

Today is my roommates birthday. I have no idea how I lucked out that I met this kid via craigslist 2 months ago. Usually CL has nothing but crazies and sex addicts but somehow the stars aligned and we clicked (maybe because we are both crazy and sex addicts, but I digress). I love him because he is extremely outgoing, into sports and a very giving person. I had moved-in less then a week and he was already inviting me to hang out with him. A invite I desperately needed due to my recent breakup when all I wanted to do was shut myself up in my room. Something about having him and his friends around just made it easier for me.

Happy Birthday yo! I wish you all the success and happiness life has to offer - from Charlie to vegan ism and then some.

Ex-Boyfriends

My dinner with my Ex was very cool. Its was so good to see him and chat. He looks happy. I'm so proud of his many accomplishments and I know the future will bring many good things his way. He'll be in German for a gallery show and book signing first week in Aug (I know I have a few readers there -read:one- so email me for details). I also realized, I love him but I am no longer in love with him. He has a passion for what he does and thats where his focus has been for awhile. I'm just glad I got to be apart of the adventure but I'm also glad I got out when I did. It all goes back to us being on different paths. I look forward to seeing him again- you owe me dinner bitch!

And from one Ex to another. My Ex from Texas will be here in 8 days. We have been text flirting for the past month. Last time I saw him, I pushed him away, grabbed my suitcase and slammed his front door. I was a very dramatic 25 yr old. I've had no contact with him since until 2 months ago. He "heard" from a old friend of mine that Lucky and I were no more and wanted to see if I was ok (read: I'm coming to NYC in two months, want to hook up?). We've always had a very tumultuous relationship. I met him in June '01 two weeks before I was to move to NYC for good.
Those were the happiest and insane two weeks of my mid-20s life. The pics posted are from those two weeks- god we look so young! We tried the long distance thing for awhile but it just torn us apart. I had no plans of moving back, having just landed a 6 month musical tour and he was starting radiology school in Austin for the next 3 yrs.

Now I have no ties here. I'm single again and no longer performing. He's done with school and working in a hospital. I have no idea what it's going to happen when I see him. I'm hoping we will be just two friends catching up but our histories dictate otherwise. I'm open to having a weekend bf, I miss having someone to walk in the park with. Its just what happens after the weekend that concerns me.
